Our Modern World: Indonesian cleric weds 12-year-old

Ah, to be like the prophet, blessings be upon him.

Indonesia cleric detained for marrying 12-year-old
A Muslim cleric whose marriage to a 12-year-old girl triggered controversy in Indonesia has been detained along with the girl's father on suspicion of violating the child protection law, police said Wednesday.
I'm sure if you go far enough back in American or European history you will find evidence of old codgers marrying prepubescents like in this story. Hell, you simply have to look at what goes on in our western states like Utah to see it happening today.

So, I guess we can't cry foul too much to read about it happening in Indonesia...BUT WE SHOULD in all cases. These are children. They barely have any clue what life is supposed to be about and they are being deflowered by these pedophiles!

I don't know what the reasons were hundreds of years ago but it seems our modern child-marrying-pedophiles are all of a religious bent. I guess that's the justification they need to get their rocks off screwing little girls...it was good enough for the prophet, blessings be upon him, so it is good enough for me. It was good enough for Joseph Smith, so it is good enough for me.

It's good to see that in this case the perpetrator was arrested. At least there are sane people in charge over there.

ACLU Wins Lawsuit Against Ten Commandments

Oh, those godless heathens at the ACLU! How did this happen? They must have used some atheist magic potion to convince a judge to rule in their favor!

Kentucky counties fined $400,000 for posting Ten Commandments

Two southern Kentucky counties where officials posted copies of the Ten Commandments in courthouses have been ordered by a federal judge to pay more than $400,000 to the American Civil Liberties Union and citizens who successfully challenged the displays.
How can this be? Our laws are based on the ten commandments so why is this a problem??? I kid...I know they aren't. If they were then rape would be legal since it isn't prohibited by the commandments. *sheesh* Silly secularists and their humanitarian laws!

It's not clear from the article where the fight began. They mention it has been ongoing for 10 years (ooh, 10 years, 10 commandments, can I get some numerological analysis of that?) and was "fought all the way to the US supreme court".

The fine is supposed to pay the legal fees for the ACLU, but why would they need any since they are on Satan's payroll? Huh???

Three cheers for the heathens at the ACLU!

OK, For Once I'm For The Priest!

Cops Arrest Priest For Filming Them

In this case, the priest was trying to help out the locals (probably parishioners) and document police harassment.

A police report says the Rev. James Manship was confronted and arrested Feb. 19 because he was holding an "unknown shiny silver object" and struggled with an officer who was trying to take it from him. But a 15-second video released this week by Manship's attorneys shows East Haven police Officer David Cari asking Manship, "Is there a reason you have a camera on me?"

"I'm taking a video of what's going on here," Manship replies.

"Well, I'll tell you what, what I'm going to do with that camera," Cari says as he approaches the priest. The tape then goes blank.

Note to police: when someone is recording you with a video camera and you decide to falsify a report, DESTROY THE FUCKING TAPE YOU IDIOT!

Cheers to the priest for trying to help out minorities!

'God Spot' In Brain Proves Intelligent Designer!

LOL...I just had to use that headline for this article:

Belief and the brain's 'God spot'

I mean, if you were going to build a creature that you wanted to worship you, wouldn't you design a part of its brain that makes them believe in you?

But, what if you weren't very good at designing creatures? What if you did silly things like putting the penis next to the anus, or used the same tube for eating, drinking, and breathing, giving rise to a risk of choking? Then it wouldn't be a stretch to think that the designer wouldn't do a very good job at creating the belief centers of the brain, which explains doubters like me.

I don't REALLY think that what these scientists have found shows there is a designer, but I can totally see how there will be lots of ID and creationist people who would come to that conclusion. After all, they are the ones who only use scientific findings when it suits their needs and ignore all the rest.

America: Slightly More Rational Than 20 Years Ago?

Living in the south with two parents who both think we are in the end-of-days I tend to get the feeling that EVERYONE in this country feels the same as they do.

But, it seems I'm wrong:

15 Percent of Americans Have No Religion
Fewer Call Themselves Christians; Nondenominational Identification Increases

I feel like going door-to-door and asking people if they've heard the good news! LOL, I bet I would get run out of town if I asked people if they were excited to hear America is getting less religious.

Seriously, though, perhaps we need to start rehab clinics for the formerly indoctrinated. We could have group sessions..
"Hi! I'm Foo, and I used to go to church and think the bible was literally true."

"HI FOO!"
From the article:
The survey of more than 54,000 people conducted between February and November of last year showed that the percentage of Americans identifying as Christians has dropped to 76 percent of the population, down from 86 percent in 1990.

I doubt, though, that people who are non-religious will go as far as calling themselves agnostic, much less atheist. I still tend to the deistic point of view, though I'm effectively an atheist. I don't consider if a FOUR-LETTER-WORD like most people here.

Perhaps I should move:

The only group that grew in every U.S. state since the 2001 survey was people saying they had "no" religion; the survey says this group is now 15 percent of the population. Silk said this group is likely responsible for the shrinking percentage of Christians in the United States.

Northern New England has surpassed the Pacific Northwest as the least religious section of the country; 34 percent of Vermont residents say they have "no religion." The report said that the country has a "growing non-religious or irreligious minority." Twenty-seven percent of those interviewed said they did not expect to have a religious funeral or service when they died, and 30 percent of people who had married said their service was not religious. Those questions weren't asked in previous surveys.

Our Modern World: 40 Lashes For Mingling

Oh, what an aweful hussy she was! Two men at the same time! And at her advanced age!!!

Saudis order 40 lashes for elderly woman for mingling

A Saudi Arabian court has sentenced a 75-year-old Syrian woman to 40 lashes, four months imprisonment and deportation from the kingdom for having two unrelated men in her house, according to local media reports.

But wait, there's a silver lining! She gets out of that horrible country! Deported, yay! Yay!

Some in the country are not happy:

The case has sparked anger in Saudi Arabia.

"It's made everybody angry because this is like a grandmother," Saudi women's rights activist Wajeha Al-Huwaider told CNN. "Forty lashes -- how can she handle that pain? You cannot justify it."

How does a modern society find itself living as if it were the year 1200? Extreme religious dogma. Blinded by the pursuit of God they trample over their own humanity as if it were a dung pile, only stopping to scrape the shit off their shoes every so often.

Did Nazareth Exist During Jesus' Time?

About a year ago I listened to an episode of The Infidel Guy where he interviewed René Salm about his new book The Myth Of Nazareth: The Invented Town Of Jesus. At the time I thought he made a pretty convincing argument that the evidence of a town called Nazareth was not established long after Jesus' time.

Here is a link to the Infidel Guy show: IG: The Myth of Nazareth

Now, James Randi has read the book and has some things to say about it. With all of the work he has done debunking frauds I would imagine that he has a higher standard for evidence than you or I...unless, of course, he is suffering from confirmation bias! (LOL, I say that tongue-in-cheek)

Where was God when this happened?

9 Year-Old Girl Raped By Step-Father - Catholic Church Has A Hissy Over Abortion

THIS PISSES ME OFF SOOOO MUCH! I'm fuming!

Question the girl should ask the HIGH AND FUCKING MIGHTY priest:

WHERE WAS GOD WHEN MY STEP-DAD WAS RAPING ME?

Nice fucking world you made for us!
